Is BMW Giving Tesla Motors A run For Their Money?

Although good for the environment Electric cars have always had a stigma associated with them.  Always seen as inferior because of their speed and the amount of distance they can cover Electric cars are just starting to make its way into the limelight.

With Tesla finally making a profit a few years back we are starting to see a shift in the way people deem electric cars.  Tesla has added much to the field in the sense of performance and aesthetics.  If you ask 100 people on the street if they would drive Teslas Model S sedan you would probably get a resounding yes from all of them.  After all, the Model S sedan is seen by many as one of the best vehicles you can buy, and that’s not just amongst electric car.  That’s saying a lot considering the amount of cars that are produced year in and year out.

Tesla has of late been getting so much attention that it has gotten the attention of bigger more well known companies like General electric and BMW.  BMW has rolled out with the BMW i3 which goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds.  Its top speed is 150 km/hr not bad when compared to other products on the market.  The price tag is also very impressive , it starts off at 41,350 dollars.  That’s a good 28,000 dollars extra in your pocket when compared to the Model S by Tesla.

BMW has also hit the American market with its new fast electric car charge stations.  Unlike other direct current fast chargers who are massive, power hungry and expensive BMWs chargers are small and light enough to be wall mounted.  But this little guy packs a huge punch being able to give a BMW i3 an 80 percent charge within 30 minutes.
